Halo: The Master Chief Collection devs "exploring" microtransaction options By Heidi Nicholas, 27 Jun 2022 FollowtopicsHalo: The Master Chief CollectionHaloXbox Game StudiosXbox Game PassLocal MultiplayerXbox Series X|SFirst Person ShooterHeidi Nicholas In a community update, the Halo team explains that it's "internally exploring" microtransactions, in the form of purchasable Spartan Points (which were previously called Season Points), for Halo: MCC.Community writer Alex Wakeford explained that Season Points are being renamed to Spartan Points as the team moves away from Seasons, and that the team is "internally exploring" purchasable Spartan Points as a way for newer players to catch up with items, or for completionists to find the items they might be missing. Halo: MCC could have microtransactions addedThe post does take pains to point out that this would be "an optional, additive feature" and that the Halo team is still happy with how players currently earn Spartan Points. If added, purchasable Spartan Points would be aimed at "players who might find the vast scope of content to be an intimidating amount of playtime and want to get ahead on (or skip) the grind, or maybe want to grab specific items they want."For players who are new to the MCC, or who may not have dedicated much time specifically to unlocking items during the seasonal updates, or are simply completionists looking to catch the last outstanding items they need, we are internally exploring a potential new feature for the future in the form of purchasable Spartan Points," the post explains. The addition of purchasable Spartan Points isn't yet a definite thing, and Wakeford emphasises that it's in "the interest of transparency" with the community that the team has mentioned exploring the feature at all. Wakeford also reiterates that it would be an "additive feature" if added. We'll keep you posted on any updates about this, but in the meantime, what do you think of microtransactions possibly being added to Halo: MCC?
